Most of the works shown in this section document a
collection of doodles deriving mostly from sktechbooks. 
They express personal ideas or even commercial concept 
work for animation.

UNIT COLLECTIVE SELF- PROMO:

Bellow there is an animation project done as a promo video for a company called Unit Collective. I have been involved as a concept artist and character designer.

The next picture is a fragment of second illustration I made for Sines Digital Festival. This one 

shows a robotic crab getting close to another character that seems to be drowning in an ice crack. 

This scene is inspired by a crucial part of all dramas ; the moment when everything goes wrong.

My Doodles were two times published on the catalogue " Ilustração Portuguesa ", one of the 

most important and prestigious showcases of Portuguese illustration.

These photos document my presence in the 2002 and 2004 editions.

Some of the Doodles showed in the catalogues are part of a comic book novel I made, called TV FUN!

 " Tv Fun " is a short graphic novel portraying the Tv viewers addiction to blood and terrible 

news until their pleasure becomes pain by matching reality. 

Description: A city is being attached by a group of terrorists, murdering people randomly. At home 

3 pigs watch the live coverage of the events eating popcorn on the sofa. At some point a machine gun 

shoots to kill from  inside the TV screen, splashing stains of blood all over their face as the  effect of

an ultra real live experience. They become the next victims. 

This project pokes fun with irony to the modern TV live coverage of violence exihibited at dinner time. 

Modern news is obscene entertainment almost like a football match, and people seem to like it.

Here below I show a cast of characters able for some of the main roles, and a brief story board.

This is one of the terrorists I drew for this story. A combination of different animal parts.

This one is the other vilain, called Wormit. His rotten thougths come out directly as the bullets
from the machine gun attached to his head.

Bloody Mary is one of characters of Tv Fun that I enjoy imagining as possible animation stories.
Her appearance creates the pretext for the creation of a sequel, adding new chapters to a first
episode of Tv Fun. She is a victim of the terrorist attack. Only after her death it is possible to know
her identity, from facts once more revealed by the media sensacionalism. The interest of the audiences
about her life  rises from  the feeling of compassion for her victimized innocence, to morbid curiosity
from the discovery of a dark and twisted past. All the ingredients are gathered
for epic adult entertainment.

Other adult content animation ideas such as Taxi Driver came to my mind by composing graphic
novel strips like the one below, published in an extended version on Canibal Crica n.2 ( Chilli com
Carne editions ). This one tells the story of a very rude taxi driver, inspired by an episode of my
personal experience.

It is difficult to describe how far I went to portray this short story, only Portuguese  speakers can
understand the full extension of the explicit words used in the dialogues between the driver and the
customer . I would love to make short episodes of this surrealist character.

Chillout Zone is a small graphic strip I made, using a sculpture model  built from different materials.
It suggested me a futuristic animation debuting a cyborg character named Adipose. The character is
like a virtual prostitute , waiting for clients in a cilyndrical show window much like in Amersterdam´s
red district light. She would establish wire connection with other cyborg creatures for soul pleasures.
The plot goes around mind games.

Chef Bitoke is an autopromotional video designed by me; and produced by a Tv advertising animation studio named" Unit Collective ". My intention was to sell the idea of  a Visual Gourmet, establishing the parallelism  between the excellence of the studio´s services as a  

media production company, and the quality of the products delivered.

The first concept  before the autopromotion video was to create a Tv animation series to
represent the identity of a notorious Portuguese supermarket food chain.
